Hope for Children
Bill Behrman with Children

In March of 2006, while ministering in Nepal, Patsy Cameneti and her daughter Liliana, visited some homes for orphaned and deprived children operated by Christians.  As they observed the orderly lives of these rescued children, something was birthed in their hearts to become a part of bringing hope and a future to the abandoned and hopeless children of that country.

After prayer and consideration, it was decided to contact a longtime friend and pastor from Nepal, D.K. Daniel Limbu.  I wrote to him concerning the possibility of starting some kind of outreach to the orphans and hurting children and he replied with the thrilling response that he had been wanting to do something like this for several years.

We then made plans and set guidelines for the home and began to raise funds for the rental of a large house in Kathmandu and also to buy beds, clothing and supplies for the children.  After several months, a place was found and his family moved in and began taking in children in April of 2007.  He had inspiration to name the home; Hope for Children.

The children will have Christian care and be given godly guidance and be led to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.  They will be trained in the word of God and in practical Christian living, prayer and a life of faith and trust in the Lord.  They will have medical and dental exams upon arrival at the home, plus medical care in the event or emergency or illness.  They will also be well clothed and have uniforms for school.  In the school they attend, they will also learn English.

A ministry trip to Nepal in May of 2007 was very timely as Ginger and I were able to see the seven children that would be part of the charter family of the home.  On the 12th of May, we had the evening meal with the children and then dedicated the facilities and had prayer with the children and the family.

The Lord has brought wonderful partners alongside to help in the startup costs and the sponsoring of the children.  We solicit your prayers for the children and for those who will be working with them from day to day.

There were problems identified with the rental home in the spring of 2010.  The rental property did not have a yard for the children to play and was adjacent to a busy street.  They also had sewage water get into the well they used for bathing and washing clothes.  A change was needed as soon as possible.  We had faith that God would provide.

God did indeed answer our prayers and made wonderful provision for a new home through the giving of our faithful partners. Construction began in August 2010 on the new home for Hope for Children on the church compound of New Life Church in Kathmandu, Nepal.  The new building will accommodate 20 children. Construction is nearing completion and the children are scheduled to move into the building in the month of November 2011.

We still need help in the support of the children in the home.  If you would like to support a child in Hope for Children, you may send your contribution to one of the addresses below.  The present cost of support for a child is $75 per month.  Your gift would be a blessing and would be greatly appreciated.
